Today marks the inauguration of President Barack Obama. The world has embraced Obama, and so has the creative communities. Today I have posted some of these best art & design that has been inspired by Obama, showing how his brand has inspired our industry. Above is the now iconic Hope poster by Shepard Fairey. This has already been replicated a hundred times over on the internet, have we already seen the 21st Century's Che?
The Obama brand never really had an opposition in McCain, Obama embraced new technologies and the internet like no other politician has ever done, an example being how the Obama camp used an
iPhone application to encourage voting. As predicted though, race was an issue for some in the election, above is a poster by ad agency Grey who I believe best captured the response to the race issue.
Obama's official branding was very refreshing and captured the air of change, designed by
Sender LLC. For me though, it was the art & design that was created and posted on the internet that has best captured the Obama brand.
You can a lot of Obama art at
Danzigerprojects.com, this logotype again showing different colours coming together to form the shape of America. I've also seen a lot of people substituting the 'Ob' in Obama for the year of the election '08, the best example I've seen is a self-initiated project by
Plan B Studio, you can see more examples on their website.
and this one to celebrate Obama's election victory...
Below is a funny example of illustrating between Obama and McCain.
One for the typographers,
Jeff Domke created Obamabats, a special Obama typeface, click on his name to visit his website and download the typeface for free!
Abraham Obama was also another poster that made a lot of impact, designed by Ron English
Photography has been another powerful visual tool, I've seen a lot of great pictures of Obama, but one of my favourite I've seen is this black and white shot of Obama. The photographer is unknown to me, so if anyone knows who took the shot, let me know so I can credit them!
Moving to art, here's a piece that is being unveiled today at New York's Museum of Art & Design, by British designer Benjamin Shine, created with an American flag.
And here's Michael Murphy's piece, created by the shadows of 6,400 nails
Another geeky design one, using the black pantone swatch!
Here's some of my favourite typographic responses...

So much of the art & design inspired by Obama is visually focused on his face, but I like this typographic poster below, as its shows what the Obama brands stands for in America.
There's been a good quote flying around, I still don't know originally who came up with it, some say it was Jay-Z but I'm not sure, but here's a few images depicting the quote...
So there are some of my favourites of the visual art, design and branding I've seen inspired by Brand Obama. There is so many examples, some good websites to go and visit if you want to see more are
Art of Obama and
